Friday 9/30

Today we completed the individual portion of the Chapter 2 test. When we were finished, we worked on MATHia.

Thursday 9/29

Today we started our Chapter 2 Test with the group portion. We completed half of the test in groups so we were able to collaborate and work on the problems together. Tomorrow we will finish the rest of the test individually.

Homework: Bring Chapter 2 packet tomorrow to turn in

Today we had an assembly during 6th period so we worked on MATHia for the other classes.

Tuesday 9/27

Today we finished our look at linear functions, equations, tables, and graphs. We discovered that we've got a competitor in the shirt-making marketplace and our boss has tasked us with some analysis. We brought the groups together and found that U.S. Shirts was the better company when we wanted less than 14 shirts and Hot Shirts was a better company when we wanted more than 14 shirts.

Monday 9/26

Today we continued our look at linear functions, equations, tables, and graphs with the last part of  Lesson 2.5 and the first part of Lesson 2.6. Instead of working in Carnegie, I separated the class based on U.S. Shirts and Hot Shirts. 

We discovered that we've got a competitor in the shirt-making marketplace and our boss has tasked us with some analysis. Tomorrow we will bring the groups together and focus on the analysis part.

Tuesday 9/20

Today we continued with MATHia. Make sure you are staying on track with your progress or else you will not receive credit for the unfinished sections.

Remember Module 1 is due by this FRIDAY! We will be spending this week in MATHia so you will have plenty of time in class to complete problems. If you are behind, you should complete MATHia at home.

Friday 9/16

Today we worked on MATHia while listening to some jams. 

The winners of the Fit for a KING Raffle received KING size candy bars, a KING crown, and they were able to pick the music we listened to during MATHia. The winners for each class were:

Thursday 9/15

Today we dove into linear functions with Lesson 2.4. We took a look at how word problems, constants, variables, tables, expressions, equations, graphs, domains, and ranges are connected.

Wednesday 9/14

We finished our introduction to relations and functions today with the second half of Lesson 2.3.

Homework: Chapter 2 packet page 83 Talk the talk and summary of what you learned yesterday and today, using and explaining all key terms (there are ten of them). 

Tuesday 9/13

Today we began our look at relations and functions with the first half of Lesson 2.3. We will finish the second half of the lesson tomorrow.

Parents: Ask your students about relations, functions, input, output, x-values, y-values, domain, range, mappings, and sets today to determine how much they learned. There were a lot of new key terms presented today that we want them to master.

Homework: Finish chapter 2 packet textbook pages 71-72 problem 2 #1-9

Monday 9/12

We worked in MATHia X today and finished our Common Assessment.

Our second MATHia X module, Linear Equations, will be due next Friday the 23rd. Are you on pace to have all the workspaces complete?

Thursday 9/8

Today we continued our review of solving two-step equations. 

In preparation of our Common Assessment #1, we need to practice problems. The way you get better at something is to practice! Whether you are playing basketball, the flute, or mastering math concepts, practice is important. For homework, I want you to practice problems. Here are the problems from our review: 
Review Questions. Find the problems that you have not yet mastered and re-do them. I have highlighted the answers so you can check them. Remember, practice makes perfect!

Wednesday 9/7

Today we review solving two-step equations using Plickers. We were able to reveal our answers and see how the class did live on the screen. Tomorrow we will spend more time reviewing equations in order to prepare for our Common Assessment. 

We will have our first Common Assessment this Friday during class time. The assessment will help us to see where we are now and where we are going in the curriculum. No need to stress and all I ask is that you try your best!

Tuesday 9/6

Today we took a Cope survey then worked on MATHia. We also went over our Chapter 1 Test. We will be reviewing the concepts and students will have the opportunity to retake the test if they are unhappy with their scores. This is our first test of the year so it is one of many. Don't let it get you down if you did poorly because we will use it as a tool to improve and revisit those concepts!  

We will have our first Common Assessment this Friday during class time. The assessment will help us to see where we are now and where we are going in the curriculum. No need to stress and all I ask is that you try your best!

Today we worked on MATHia for the entire class period. There is no homework except for have a GREAT weekend!

Today we looked at the first part of Lesson 2.2, which focused on the characteristics of graphs. By now you should be able to explain the following terms in your own words:

• linear graph
• collinear points
• non-linear graph
